@ https://bit.ly/2K8qwCH

Political News - Controversy Over The Passing Of Aadhaar Bill

The Aadhaar Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on 11th March, but following that, there is a controversy between the government and the opposition. The opposition is mainly upset over the fact that the bill is said to be as a money bill. In addition to that, the opposition is frustrated and angry over the fact that the government would not give any time for carrying out discussions about it in the Rajya Sabha. After 14 days of the passing of the bill, it will be considered as accepted and passed. This implies that Upper house of the Parliament will not get the chance to scrutinize the bill.

On last Friday, Arun Jaitley, the Finance minister rejected the demand of the opposition in terms of the bill and referred it to a Standing Committee. Overruling the objections of Congress, Jaitley had also said that it was a money bill and the government does not have a majority over it. The finance minister also sent a proposal for taking the bill into consideration. On this there were concerns raised over the invasion of privacy.

The leader of the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge and P Venugopal supported the concern of the demand, and they said that they were not against any forms of flaws.

Under Article 109, the opposition has therefore planned to move an amendment. This will definitely not stop the bill, but it will cause some form of inconvenience to the government. When a bill is passed with amendment in the Rajya Sabha, it comes with lots of symbolic elements. It is crucial to note that the BJP also opposed on the passing of the Aadhaar Bill, and they raised several issues. This was claimed by Abhishek Singhvi, the spokesperson of Congress Party.

In an effort to counter the argument of the Congress party, Chandan Mitra from BJP said that they will get the scope to discuss each and every issue associated with the bill. The discussions will take place on the floor of Rajya Sabha. He also said that if any amendment is moved in the process, the overall procedure will be delayed, and this will affect the entire country. Moving amendments has become the hallmark of the Opposition in this context.

Karan Thapar of India Today discussed about this issue on his show To the Point and extensively covered by Live Hindi News portals and channels. He discussed this issue with a panel of experts and got reports about the controversy of the Aadhaar Bill. According to Hindi News Online some of the experts included Chandan Mitra, the MP of Rajya Sabha representing BJP, Abhishek Singvi, the spokesperson of Congress, D Raja, the CPI Rajya Sabha MP, Ashok Malik, the commentator and columnist and Aditi Phadnis, the political editor of the Business Standard.

Different people had to express different opinions on the show and hence no proper conclusion was evident. Jaitley was earlier of the view that the targeted subsidy through Aadhaar cards had resulted in savings of more than 15000 crores at the centre. The money can be used to the Consolidated Fund of India.

Are our politicians truly qualified to meet the strict need and responsibilities of their portfolio?

The Karnataka government is indeed sensible to challenge the high court in Ms. Jayalalitha’s verdict.  Her acquittal in disproportionate assets case.  During the search conducted in this case a few years back, police personnel, team has witnessed the moveable property, news was flashed all over the country, media too was the witness.  How can we deny this fact?  And on what terms did the high court acquit her?  The move by the government to move the supreme court in this regard is appreciable.  Its a wake-up call for our politicians that it’s “no more tolerance” by us.  These days we see more of this “Lalit Modi” link.  Our leaders are very much interested in linking as many as possible involved. And the duty of the government?

To order an investigation.  The SIT (Special Investigation Team) has been set up to probe this multiple issue.  When it comes to ministers being part of it, then it has to be handled like any other common man(accused).  In fact, the action taken against them has to be more stringent.  Being people’s representative, they should be 1st to abide by the law.  Lawmakers can’t take it light and be “lawbreakers”.  And a permanent ban has to be imposed on these tainted Mantris.

Such imposters should not be allowed to contest during next tenure.  A step towards clean politics is appreciated.  The opposition parties will be very happy because the ruling leaders are under scanner (Lalit Leaks).  Only solace the government gives the public is to demand resignation from Ms. Sushma Swaraj.  Every job draws a line with regards like education, experience, age eligibility.  Why not in the case of the contesting politicians?  How long will our politics be filled with tarnished images?  On 22nd this month we’ve seen a minister who was involved in “fake degree certificate”.  And now we have Ms. Smriti Irani.  From the time her portfolio was given her, news has been doing the rounds expressing the doubts of her qualification.  Today’s news we have a gentleman, a freelance writer Mr. Ahmer Khan raising questions about her degree.  Is it not mandatory for our government to check their eligibility before giving a prominent portfolio?  Know whether a certain minister is qualified enough or not?  She has given different details on her educational qualifications..How can this happen?  Is she joking with our constitution? Under section 125A of the Representation of the People Act, She is liable to be penalised.

On moral grounds, will our dear Ms. Sushma Swaraj resign or Ms. Smriti Irani?  Already, we have enough problems to solve.  Is it necessary for these ministers to add to our existing owes?  Other than leaving a bad example, what sort of legacy are our ministers leaving behind for our next generation leaders?  To follow in their shadows?  Can’t we leave behind a longing desire, a clean politics for them.  Where the educated lot won’t dread to hear this words “politics’’ and “politicians”..lets think about it.
