How Chennai Floods made Big Bollywood News in Hindi

The Bollywood fraternity extended relief support to the needy following the catastrophic events that unfolded in Chennai in early December. Bollywood starts rallied with their southern counterparts in announcing moral and financial support to those affected by sudden rainfall followed by man-made floods. The biggest donation as per Bollywood news in Hindi came from Mannat. The celebrity is none other than Bollywood Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan and his producer wife, Gauri Khan.

Bollywood hero, Shah Rukh Khan contributed INR 1 crore to Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund of Tamil Nadu as an extension of his support towards the relief work. He specifically remarked that the contribution is shared by the team members of his upcoming movie, Dilwale and the production house of the film, Red Chillies Entertainment. A letter from the production house was also released to the media. The movie is directed by Rohit Shetty and stars Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.

The letter released to the media carried a message for the people of Tamil Nadu, especially those who are affected by the incessant rains and flooding. It also extended the support to the families who lost members and properties in addition to words of praise for those who thronged into the waters to manage supplies of food, water and medicines to the isolated people stuck on terraces, towers and bridges. The media constantly reported that many celebrities consciously appreciated the relief work carried out by the army and naval personnel, policemen and government servicemen.

SRK and Red Chillies Entertainment are not alone in the noble contribution towards Chennai floods. Rana Daggubati of the recent blockbuster, Baahubali fame, also made significant contributions towards the relief fund. Southern-heart throb, Siddharth was one of the first celebrities in the city to plunge into relief work following his house getting submerged in the unprecedented events that continued for 4 days. Many social media sites and instant messaging platforms were rife with superstar Siddharth’s presence in the area, which led others to follow suit and carry out relief work vigorously. It brought the memories of his 2006 movie, Rang De Basanti, back alive. “Want to change to country. Change yourself first.” Dhanush also made a remarkable outing in the floods helping those who were stuck in emergency situations. There were many ‘Rajnikanths” who rise to the occasion at the time when it was most needed.

Others were not that far either. Sports persons like Saina Nehwal and Dipika Pallikal also left their commitments and decided to put their efforts in collating food packages, drinking water bottles and necessary clothes to mange rains and floods for those affected. The News platform spread the messages sent by Allari Naresh, Suriya, Nani, singer Chinmayi Sripada, Naresh and Allu Arjun to bring more manpower into relief campaign.

Names from Bollywood who took to Twitter handles to extend solidarity included Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kalki Koechlin, Boman Irani and Anushka Sharma. It was wonderful to see B-town and south stars coming forward to help Chennai.
