India versus Pakistan: Peace suffers, Hatred Prospers

The recent ink attack on Sudheendra Kulkarni by alleged Hindutva fringe elements in Mumbai caused a furore across all the Hindi News online channels. The smearing of ink on Kulkarni is not an off event. There have been consistent attempt by certain political parties who are against any bilateral talks and cultural exchange between India and Pakistan. The single condition for continuing the talks and exchanges: Stop cross-border terrorism and crack down the outfits ho promote hatred against India. The events that came under the burner of such attacks were book launch events, sports events and theatre shows.

Is India getting intolerant?

Almost 90 per cent of the attacks on Indian soil are sponsored by agencies based out of Pakistan. Though the country’s regime continues to deny its role, its POK sponsored activities no longer cut the mark. Indian forces have begun to answer every bullet fired from the border. But this is not the way civilians are supposed to be treated. Sudheendra Kulkarni’s face was smeared as he was supporting the event of Pak’s ex-foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri’s book launch in Mumbai. Just a few days ahead of this attack, Ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali’s performance was cancelled following warning by Shiv Sena leader, Aditya Thackeray.

BJP Veteran not pleased with the developments

BJP top brass may be silent over the growing intolerance among the political allies on Pakistan’s attempt to revive the bilateral talks but former boss, L K Advani condemned such intolerance. He openly declared that any such action, by any organization is condemnable and punishable as per the penal code of India. Moreover, the attacks are not on Pakistan nationals but on fellow compatriots who support peace movement and want bilateral talks to continue.

Bone of contention: Continued attacks and Kashmir issues

With Pakistan failing to curb the cross-border infiltration in Kashmir and Punjab, Indian political parties associated with Hindutva ideologies consider it insensible to entertain any thought of mutual talks. Unless the firing and terrorism stops, Indian peace mission is not possible. Moreover, Pakistan PM Nawaz Shareef tried to raise the Kashmir issue on the international scene. Hindi News Online was abuzz with the desperation shown by the Pakistani PM to poke foreign agenda of Kashmir against India’s reservation.

Peace has no chance, at least for now

Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri could be upset about the unfortunate incident that caught his book launch event on the wrong foot. Well, he himself has been on the firing line making ‘discriminatory’ comments on India’s policy in the past. Especially when, the 26/11 attack sponsored by Pakistan occurred! For now, the hockey events and cricket tournaments between the countries seem to be a distant thought. The ICC T20 World cup will be organized in the country.

Anticipating the same fiery approach by Shiv Sena and other parties against Pakistan, it seems that the national team will remain uninvited for any future engagement. Live Hindi News online recently posted how Pakistani singers, actors and journalists will continue to work from off-shore units.
